Lake Como | Hotel Metropole Suisse in Como or Bellagio
Lake Como was an absolute highlight of my trip and one of the first locations I visited. After a 24 hour transit, nothing made me smile more than looking out my window to the main square at the heart of the city and overlooking the beautiful scenery that is the lake, whilst enjoying a Prosecco. The Hotel Metropole Suisse transports you back in time with a neoclassical, yet modern style room with chandeliers and neutral Venetian style chairs to sit and lap up the view! They also have a hotel in Bellagio where my Brother and his wife stayed at, and it was just as beautiful! Luckily enough they had a small terrace we enjoyed an aperitif or two on…
Cinque Terre | Riomaggiore or Vernazza
When we went to the Cinque Terre we actually stayed in a town south of it named Lerici, which is a small port town, where hardly any English is spoken. They also have the freshest seafood you will ever eat! We caught the ferry to all five towns in the Cinque Terre, and when I go back I would stay at either of the two most beautiful towns, Riomaggiore or Vernazza. During the peak of summer (we were also there during a heatwave) you want to be staying where the best swimming spots are. These two towns had the most to offer with B&B’s, boutique apartments and restaurants with a view!
Positano | Palazzo Talamo
If there is one place to go in Italy, Positano is the place. The picturesque town lived up to my extremely high expectations and is even more beautiful than it looks in images. We stayed in a family owned small boutique hotel, which was very affordable, as Positano can be extremely expensive. As much as I would like to say I am a strong independent woman, I also have a budget! Pablo and Carmela who run the place made us feel so welcome and where extremely helpful with recommending some local places to eat and visit. Our room had a cute balcony that overlooked the main beach with all the colourful umbrellas and was only a short, 398 steep stairs down to the main beach. In hindsight, this seems far! But after laying on the beach all day, drinking Aperol Spritz and eating pasta, a walk up some stairs was exactly what we needed.
